So it's been a while. It's been a long while.
I'm in the process of getting back on my feet, so to speak. Graduating college is a funny step: one minute you've got your days planned out, the next minute you've got entire stretches of time, and yet no time at all. Your whole life is out in front of you and yet it can be a struggle to get through each day.
The 10 hour work days continue, and it's getting frustrating because the end of the work day usually means horse chores, which leaves little time to ride or even work with Stella. The heat has been getting bad: she colicked the other day for the first time since she came off the Gastroguard almost 6 months ago. I am positive it was the heat: it was a horribly humid day and without any breeze. I got the call on my day off around 5PM. Of course by the time I got there she was on the mend, but it still worried me...
As far as working her goes, that's not been happening, mostly for time reasons. She seems much more content now that her original pasturemate has moved: he was a bully with food and would push her away from her hay regularly for no real reason. She had started to lose weight and was anxious when I would visit her. Now she's sharing a paddock and pasture with a 2,000 lb. Belgian gelding named Hugo. They get along really well, share hay and hang out in the stalls when it gets hot. She's been much calmer lately.
I'll be posting again later this week with more pictures and hopefully some semi-big news: stay tuned!
Yes pictures! Glad things are going okay over there. My pup's name is Hugo!
