I've decided, after much laboring over it, to take this blog in a new direction. I know not everyone wants to hear about how amazing (or not, depending on the day, hehe) Stella is, and not everyone wants to hear about how wonderful Ernie was...at least not all the time.
I will continue to write about both of them, BUT:
I want to supplement this with information topics and posts. Bottom line: I've learned a TON about all sorts of random things (and not so random) that I hadn't honestly thought about before owning horses and providing the majority of their care on my own.
Just a few of the many, many topics I want to cover (that I've learned a fair amount about (or gotten a serious reality check in) include: ulcers, stabling practices, hoof trimming, barefoot vs. shod, and awesome products/tack/horse stuff. I also want to talk a LOT more about massage. It's possibly one of the greatest therapies horse owners have at their disposal, both as a preventative treatment and a rehabilitative tool. I've got clients who wouldn't know their horse was in pain if (s)he told them so...and others who freak about every weird little twitch and bump.
So, the blog will become more like 50% personal, 50% informational. I think it'll reach a greater number of horsey-lovers on the internet while still serving as my personal journal.
I'm also going to be playing with the layout of the blog. I've already changed some things around already.
Sometimes change really is a good thing. :)
