We're OK!

To everyone that's contacted me about VT and the massive flooding and damage we've gotten from Hurricane Irene: yes, we're all OK, some parts of the state got hit way worse than others. Entire towns are underwater, there's lots of flood damage, especially to low-lying areas, lots of washed out roads, damaged houses and buildings. Some places were evacuated but for the most part we all survived. Much of the state is without power and probably will be for the next few days as they try and clean up the downed lines.

I am without power in my apartment until at least Thursday morning, or so I'm told. Luckily, we have a back-up generator that's run off the John Deere tractor at the barn, so the horses will have water and we won't be desperate in that sense. But it's been very difficult the travel, the dirt roads are littered with debris from downed trees, downed power lines and areas that have been completely washed out. Much of the road to the barn has been reshaped and will hopefully get leveled out soon because it's pretty difficult to drive on right now. My roommates and I had to travel over 60 miles to find ice, batteries and bottled water because everything is either closed, too damaged/without power to be open or sold out of the necessities.

But we are OK. The horses are safe. I am safe. Everything is all good.

It's been a while since I've updated on LBM, my progress, rants, aspirations, anything really. We CANTERED today, for the first time since, well, the first time we cantered and it was holy-unbalanced-not-good-Batman. This time, though? It took a little convincing, I had to chase her into it a little, but she popped into an (actually pretty decent) canter with the correct lead both directions. A coincidence, you say? Probably, but whatever, I'll take it! More to come later....when I get power back...
