Quick In, Quick Out...

I don't have much time in the next couple days. I also have had almost no internet access because our phone and internet provider sucks. And they can't blame power outages or shortages on heat, either. This has happened multiple times in the past. I hate Comcast.

I've been house/barn-sitting for my boss the past few nights. She's at a Region 6 QH show in Mass., and I'm being paid to sit around her house and watch movies (oh, yeah, and do night check.) With the temperatures we've had the past few days, I'm more than happy to stay inside. We broke two state records for highest temp, and reached over a hundred degrees 3 days in a row. This is NOT normal Vermont weather. The horses have been miserable outside so they've stayed in with nice piles of hay and fans. Mucking stalls has never been so miserable.

In other news, Stella's staples are out, and the wound has healed beautifully. It'll close on it's own (it had healed as much as it could with the staples in) so it's now just a few days of light wrapping and topical medication until the granulation tissues covers it over and she's good to go outside! On actual grass! Roll in actual dirt! Until then, her and Ernie are happily munching on a bale of hay in a makeshift pen indoors due to the heat. I bought them box fans for their stalls because once they get in the barn they sweat like crazy; two days ago Stella was covered slick in sweat from muzzle to tail when I went. Poor girl. She LOOOOVES her fan, however. She reminds me of a Hollywood movie star; hair blowing in the wind, posing, saying "look at me, love me" (and in Stella's case, "feed me").

Ernie is fine, by the way. He's getting better about the whole stall thing, and I almost guarantee that he'll be MUCH happier once he's out on grass.
