Mother Nature, could you please choose to spite the entire state of Vermont (oh, wait, how about the whole of New England and a good chunk of the eastern seaboard) with severe thunderstorms, small hale, 75 mph wind gusts and a tornado watch on a day when I am NOT planning on introducing Stella to the concept of mounted leg yields?
All I can say is: total fail. The weather has shaken even my unflappable mare, who has braved through thunderous herds of horses running outside the arena, rain pelting the roof, the infamous weedwacker and dozens of other horsie foes. But she was no match for Mother Nature having a tantrum and trying to rip the roof off the indoor a couple hours ago. Quelle surprise when we found several sheets of metal siding out in one of the back pastures...oi.
I was going to have pictures, but my cameraman was forced to help calm an extremely excitable mare long enough for me to get off before I got chucked into a wall. Or jump standard. Or mounting block. In all fairness, this is the first time ANYTHING has really scared her, and I don't blame her one bit for wanting to bail. Today was just not our day.
